Mount Festival COVID-19 Response

Updated 6/12

While we are constantly checking for the latest Government updates, we will be using the new Government Traffic Light System for the Fulton Hogan Mount Festival of Multisport in January. This means that the event can go ahead at both Orange and Green Light status if vaccination certificates are used.

Do I need to be vaccinated to take part in the Fulton Hogan Mount Festival?

As we will be in the new traffic light system by January 22, we will be required by the government to have vaccination certificates. This will allow the event to go ahead at both ‘Orange Light’ and ‘Green Light’ status for those who are double vaccinated and have a vaccination certificate. . All staff, sponsors, participants, suppliers and volunteers will also be required to have vaccination certificates.

What if we are at Red Light in the BOP over the event week?

Unfortunately, the event cannot go ahead if we are in ‘Red Light’ status in the Mount Maunganui District due to gathering restrictions. In this case, the Fulton Hogan Mount Festival would be cancelled for 2022, with the option of a virtual race available. We will post clear updates in the lead up to the event as we get any new information.

Do I carry my ‘traffic light status’ with me?

No you do not carry your ‘traffic light status’ with you and therefore you can travel from a ‘Red Light’ area to an ‘Orange Light’ or ‘Green Light’ area to attend events.

What is your refund policy if the event is cancelled due to ‘Red Light’ status?

At the Mount Festival, we have endeavoured to continue to keep our entry price as low as possible and take pride in knowing this is lower than other events of the same calibre. Due to working on such a tight budget line our current entry Terms and Conditions don’t allow for refunds. However, depending on the time of cancellation we would work hard to ensure we are able to give participants a partial refund. By assessing this exact refund amount closer to the cancellation of the event will allow us to review the money that has already been spent in planning the event, and what can be returned to participants.  This applies if the entire event is cancelled, or if there is a region that cannot attend due to border patrol i.e. Auckland participants.

What if I can’t attend due to Auckland Border Restrictions?

If there are border restrictions in place in Auckland (or another region), those who are unable to leave the region before restrictions come into place will be given a partial refund.

Due to working on such a tight budget line our current entry Terms and Conditions don’t allow for refunds. However, depending on the time of border announcement we would work hard to ensure we are able to give participants a partial refund. By assessing this exact refund amount closer to the event will allow us to review the money that has already been spent in planning the event for all participants, and what can be returned to participants.

If the event is cancelled, can I transfer my entry to next year’s event?

Unfortunately, due to the above-aforementioned elements, we are unable to transfer race entries due to cancellation or inability to attend because of border restrictions. We hope you understand the really tight and tough position we are in.

Why don’t you just reschedule?

Unfortunately, the summer event calendar is jam-packed and there isn’t another free weekend that would work in with the current triathlon and event calendar. The logistics required to close the Tauranga Eastern Link Highway means that this course cannot be accessed on another date, and the resources and consents only apply to our current event date.

Do spectators need to have vaccination certificates?

We have been advised that a certain parts of the event village will require Vaccination Passports. This also applies to all spectators and support crew who will want to access this area. Please ensure that you have the appropriate passes downloaded or printed prior to arriving onsite.

This designated Event Village area includes the finish line, sponsor expo sites and registration area and will be in place for both Registration on Friday and throughout Race Day on Saturday. All those entering this area will need to scan the QR code and have their Vaccination Passports checked on entry to be issued with a wristband.

Please allow for a bit of extra time to head into the village area and note that there will be other viewing opportunities throughout the course for all spectators.
