The awards ceremony will held after the event at 5:30pm, with the Night Owl Cinema to run shortly after conclusion with live music and food vans available from 6.30pm.
Awards will be presented to the top 3 age groupers in the different age group categories. Awards will also be presented to the top local female and male athletes. Prize money will be presented to the top 5 elites and top 3 teams in the male, female and mixed categories.
Prize giving will start at approximately 5.30pm on Saturday 20th January 2018
Car parking within 500m of the transition is prohibited. Car parking along Maunganui Road Mainstreet is limited and patrolled regularly and there will be no vehicle access to ‘The Mall’ from Friday night, so to avoid hefty fines and possible towing please park elsewhere. Please also be respect the local residents who support this event and avoid parking on private property, disabled or reserved parking.
Team Member Changes
Team member changes are permitted up to 1 December providing one original member of the team remains. Contact the race office (email@example.com) with any new details (team name, new name, age and shirt size and who they are replacing – shirt sizes are not guaranteed).
If all team members are unable to take part you are advised to contact the race office prior to 1 December and apply for a refund. There are no automatic refunds available. The organisers may, however, at their sole discretion grant a refund of fees paid if they deem it appropriate prior to 1 December. In the event of a refund under this clause, the organisers shall retain a $100 administration fee. The team entry will then be offered to the next team on the waitlist.

It is the athletes’ responsibility to ensure that the withdrawn confirmation has been received by the race office. Any requests not acknowledged by race office will not be considered valid and therefore will not be refunded.
Please note after this date there are no refunds available under any circumstances.
You are welcome to transfer your entry to another person or another event prior to 1 December. Please note there will be a $50 transfer fee applied to all transfers.

The waitlist is managed in a clear and transparent process. Waitlist entries are time logged when they are submitted and as the race office receives withdrawal requests the next person on the waitlist is contacted and offered the slot. The new person will have 72 hours to accept and complete the online registration and payment. If not completed the entry will be passed to the next person on the waitlist.
Any entries found to be traded on public websites and forums will be deemed invalid and will NOT BE accepted by the race office. Private transfers are not permitted and will not be accepted. Athletes involved may be banned from any further participation in the event.
Health and Safety standards at this event are high and any athletes who are identified participating in the event under any other name than their own will be disqualified and both athletes may be banned from any further participation in the event.
Entry fees will not be refunded if the event is cancelled or if the format is altered due to storm, rain, sea conditions, weather or other “Acts of God.’

COURSE CUT OFF TIMES
To ensure the safety of all athletes and volunteers the below cut off times are for all athletes across the event. Should an athlete not be able to reach on of these cut off time, they will no longer be able to continue racing. Results will be classified as Did Not Finish (DNF).
Event personal will assist in transporting the athlete back to the Event Village should assistance be required.
BLUESEVENTY SWIM COURSE
All swimmers must be in the water by 7.15am.
All swimmers must be out of the water by 8.15am.
Any swimmers still in the water by 8.15am will be assisted to shore by the water safety personal and registered as a DNF.
BALANCE CYCLE COURSE
The Tail End Charlie (TEC) will depart transition at 10:00am and complete one lap of the bike course at a speed of 22.5km per hour. Should a rider be overtaken by the TEC they will be notified that they need to increase their speed and stay ahead of the TEC to continue on the course. If they are unable to do so their number will be noted and they will be asked to return to transition.
Any cyclists sent back to transition by the TEC will be registered as a DNF.
The TEC will pass the following points at the following times:

GARMIN RUN COURSE
The TEC will depart transition at 1.30pm and complete one lap of the run course holding a pace of 8min per km. Should a runner be over taken by the TEC they will be notified that they need to increase their pace and stay ahead of the TEC to continue on the course. If they are unable to do so their number will be noted and they will be asked to return to transition.
Any runner sent back to transition by the TEC will be registered as a DNF.

All competitors entered in the individual division must be 18 years of age or older on race day.
All competitors entered in the teams division must be 14 years of age or older (one race day) to complete the swim section and 16 years of age (on race day) or older to complete the bike and run sections.
Event Age Groups
The event is run under Tri NZ Rules. The event runs 5 year age groups with your age calculated as at 31 December 2018.
The official age categories for both men and women following the Tri NZ Rules and are as follows:
There are 3 team categories: Male, Female and Mixed.

Bike racking will be held at Pilot Bay from 4-6pm the same evening.
Full details will be available in the race manual, however a portion of the cycle course will be on open road.
While there is a general road restriction on the run course, normal road rules must be followed. Competitors must be aware that motorists may be using the road to access their residences or work places.
Athletes who enter the Pro/Elite category must be able to provide proof of the following times for a half iron distance event or similar level results. All other athletes should enter the Age Group Category.
Men: Sub 4.20
Women: Sub 4.50
Athletes who race under the Pro/Elite category are not eligible for age group awards and those athletes who race under the Age Group category are not eligible for prize money.
The Port of Tauranga Half will use a electronic timing system, your swim, bike and run split will be recorded as well as your transition times.
The transponder will act as the Teams Baton. The swimmer must start with transponder on their ankle and the runner must cross the finish line with the transponder on their ankle.
All transponders must be returned at the completition of the race. Any transponders not return will result in the athlete been charged a $150 fee.
If you register on Friday night and for any reason do not start the race on Saturday you can hand the transponder to the Timing Tent during the day or post back to the address on the label.
Any Individual & team who is over the age of 18 and has entered the race online has already agreed and signed the waiver at the time of entry are not required to post a copy.
Any persons entered into the Individual event who is not yet 18 (although will be on race day), must have a parent/guardian sign waiver and submit to the race office prior to 1 December.
